D2L Brightspace Assessment

Assessment to Evaluate and Improve Mastery of Learning

Assessment is an integral part of learning. D2L Brightspace provides the flexibility to assess mastery of learning in a variety of models while easily tracking achievement and keeping students informed on their progress and results. Teachers can use assignments, quizzes, discussions, rubrics and more, all with feedback designed to engage, motivate and empower students. Teach the way you want to teach with D2L Brightspace.

Promote student reflection in formative assessment: In addition to creating discussions, low-stake quizzes, and self-assessment opportunities, teachers can use the Portfolio tool to give students an opportunity to document their learning, reflect on their process, and get the formative feedback they need in order to improve.

Evaluate learner progress with interim assessments: Create quizzes to assess concept mastery by copying questions from an existing course, a shared district collection, or by importing a CSV file. Use release conditions to set proficiency goals before students can progress to new concepts, to scaffold new materials, or to release content based on a specific student’s needs.

Deliver standards-aligned summative assessments: Deliver standards-aligned assessments to gather insight into individual student progress and differentiate instruction. The Question Library stores and archives quiz questions that you can reuse within a course. Create multiple collections within the Library to organize your questions by type and topic, making it easier for you to find and use them, or even create a randomized pool.

Share assessment results with parents and guardians: Brightspace Parent & Guardian allows authorized users to log in to Brightspace to see their child’s classroom activity feed, shared Portfolio items, graded items and feedback, and upcoming assignments and quizzes.
